Juniper Networks is helping Prairie View A&M put students’ networking needs first.

Aging campus networks can make it difficult for university IT departments to meet students’ wireless networking needs. Watch Prairie View A&M’s CIO discuss why this venerated public university that serves 9,400 students across three campuses chose to partner with Juniper Networks, including Juniper Mist AI, to achieve their user experience goals.

0:01 Prairie View A&M University is historically black college and university in Houston.

0:06 We're part of the Texas A&M system with about 9500 students specializing in nursing engineering

0:14 and architecture.

0:15 We did a lot of research when we were looking to migrate our wireless systems.

0:20 Juniper stood out because of the cloud based architecture, stood out because of the ease

0:24 of use.

0:25 We felt that our engineers could spend less time researching problems because of artificial

0:31 intelligence gave us a lot of the predictive behavior of our network.

0:36 They spent a lot less time doing deployments, The use of the A.I.

0:41 has increased our productivity with our staff.

0:44 It's also improved our customer service.

0:45 So we've looking at the number of incidents that have arisen since we've migrated to the

0:50 product.

0:51 And our numbers are really low.

0:53 Customer satisfaction levels are really high.

0:54 And that's the most important metric for me as a CIO.

0:58 Since we've introduced a new solution into our environment, we've seen our ticket incidents

1:03 decrease by 30% monthly.

1:05 On our Net promoter score, we were hovering around 60 to 70 annually and we've seen an

1:12 improvement up to 86.

1:14 And it also provides a secure product for us, which is also very important because we

1:20 do protect a lot of assets at our university.

1:23 And so having a solution that we can sleep at night helps us to be assured that we made

1:30 the right choice with Juniper.

1:31 Marvis in A.I.

1:33 Mist, Artificial intelligence is a game changer because it provides so much information that

1:39 helps you manage your environment and manage it with less people.

1:42 Our first deployment of the Juniper Solution was at our continuing education and graduate

1:47 level school.

1:48 What was unique about this project was it is all student led, so our students went through

1:55 the Juniper boot camp.

1:56 They racked and stacked all of the switches, they installed all of the APs, and they successfully

2:00 implemented the system in six weeks and Scoop gave them an award for Student Innovation

2:09 Project of the year.

2:10 And that was very special for us, and it led to a number of internships for our students.

2:15 So we're very proud of that Since we've introduced this solution on campus,

2:20 Our students have the flexibility to study wherever and whenever they want.

2:25 And I think that that's an important part of having an environment that supports that

2:31 ability to learn accessibility, adaptability and flexibility.

2:36 It's all about the presenting the best student experience for for our kids.

2:42 When you're looking at a solution as a thought leader, you want to think about not just cost,

2:49 but effectiveness.

2:50 You want products that are sound.

2:53 You want partners that are reliable, that are there when you need them and when you

3:00 don't.

3:01 And we've been very happy with the partnership
